Save the Dates, Do I Need Them?

Save the Dates, Do I Need Them?

Save the Dates are what you send before you send your invitations. This is the piece to let everyone know you are engaged, set a date, and that they should expect to get an invitation to the wedding in the future.

Sure, it may seem these aren’t super important since you will be sending an invitation later, but I promise you want to send these out to your guests.

Ever since COVID hit and 2020 basically abolished all wedding that year and everyone had to move their weddings to 2021 and 2022 we are seeing a high volume of weddings. No one stopped getting engaged, so this created a limited amount of dates and venues for couples to get married. 2022 is the biggest year for weddings since the 80’s, just let that sink in. The odds are, everyone is going to at least one wedding this year if not several!

Imagine you set the date and then find out someone you know has the same wedding date and you have some of the same guests. You want to make sure that you send out a Save the Date early so they know as soon as possible when you are getting married and plan accordingingly. They may even tell you before the invitations are sent out that they aren’t able to make it and then you can add a guest from your B list in their place.

Save the Dates are a great way for you to plan ahead and your guests to plan ahead. Typically you send them out 4-6 months before your wedding but I highly suggest with this high volume of weddings to send them at 6 months. If it is a international/destination wedding I would suggest sending them close to a year out from the wedding date. This will help your guests make travel plans and take time off work.
